Stop with the excuses!
I love this quote. Despite it coming from a dude that may or may not be one of the bad guys. He was able to achieve a ton of success by not allowing excuses or roadblocks to get in the way of what he truly wanted. I gave a speech a couple of weeks back and I spoke of persistence and never giving up. One of the parts of my speech that will forever stick in my head was...
Low Achievers - "Can we do that?"
High Achievers - "Why, did someone say we couldn't."
Never, Ever, Ever, Ever STOP.
Current Meal Plan (Not Diet)
So I started the 3 day quick fix meal plan (not diet...I plan on eating) on Monday. I have used this before to drop some weight before going into a more mild meal plan. I am guided by The 21 Day Fix Meal Plan (Click HERE to see what the heck I am talking about) It is pretty awesome once you get into it. The hardest part is the food prep...and I guess the first 2-3 days.
I am eating 6 meals a day. My schedule is
8am - Steel Cut Oats & 4 Egg Whites
11am - Chicken breast & Half a cup of Sweet Potatoes
2pm - Chicken Breast & 2 Cups Brussel Sprouts
5pm - 2 Chicken Breasts & 1 Cup Brussel Sprouts
8pm - 1 Chicken Breast or 3 Tilapia Filets & 2 cups Brussel Sprouts
11pm - 1/2 Cup of Cottage Cheese
It has been a pretty good schedule. I will do this for 3 days and then on my 4th day I will do my regular 21 Day fix meal plan based on the instructions from the program. It takes a lot of prep and sacrifice...and you have to like chicken, but I like my results.
BEFORE AND AFTER PICS TO COME!!! VERY PLEASED!!!
Week 2 Day 10 - P90x/Insanity Hybrid
Day 10 - This was P90x Shoulders and Arms. A little slow, but a burner. I realize that my shoulders are not very strong due to some injuries from over lifting as a younger guy...so I used some light weights and just tried to take it easy. When I was younger, all I wanted to do was get JACKED and lift monster weights. Nowadays, I try to slow down and think about what I am trying to accomplish and why. Plus, I have been doing Insanity and Asylum for the past 3-6 months. I haven't lifted weights in longer than that...so taking it slow seemed like a good idea. Here is some video of a little of the warm up and some exercises.
What is DOMS?
So you just finished your first week of P90x/Insanity Hybrid workout and your muscles hurt like HELL!!! What the heck causes this pain??
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness or DOMS is a state of muscular pain and discomfort that begins several hours after a period of intense exercise. This will usually persist for 1 to 2 days. DOMS is thought to be due to microtrauma to the muscle fiber.
DOMS may be what your pain is. If it is severe, please check with your doctor. If not, take it easy and don't over do it. Listen to your body. If you need to take a day or two off, then do it. This usually means your muscles are repairing and growing....so BEACH WATCH OUT!!

Week 2 Begins - P90X/Insanity Hybrid
Started Week #2 of P90x/Insanity Hybrid workout. Chest and Back. My chest and back feels like rubber. Haven't done that many pushups and pullups since I started P90x in 2008.
I really like the switch up though...muscle building one day, endurance and cardio the next. My body seems to be responding to this very well. Muscles are sore and yet I am still getting mad cardio in. This has always been my problem (well that and my diet..ha ha). I am pretty good at doing one or the other for extended periods of time. Doing both a muscle building program and keeping my cardio up has always escaped me.
Rachael has been bugging me to do this workout. So I started. Good call Rach.

Soreness or Injury?
Based on the amount of soreness in my muscles (thank you leg day Tony Horton), I was motivated to post this. Be careful and be aware of what your body is telling you. (I'm just whining...not really injured....don't tell my wife. he he)
Day 7 - REST DAY
So glad it is rest day. Sunday. Family Day. Easter Sunday. Time for church, good food and family time! Woo hoo!
By the way...I am so sore, I can hardly walk!

Day 5 p90x/insanity
Thursday, April 17, 2014
Late night eating
Man. This is my biggest weakness. Two things help me...drinking water and planning my meals so that they are ready immediately on schedule. I have cut out the late night fast food (no longer a problem, but it took awhile), but the desire to be full before bed gets the best of me at times. This is probably why I have never had ripped abs. Work in progress...I'm not perfect...just human...I think.

The Power of Dreaming Big
You never know what kind of an impact you will have on people. Whether it is your attitude, your daily actions and habits or the things you say. You touch more lives than you really know about. I had an amazing moment this last weekend. My wife Rachael asked me to speak at her Beachbody Super Saturday event on April 12th. I wrote a speech about how Arnold Schwartzenegger used the strategy that if you believe in a dream vividly enough and take action to create that dream...and truly never give up, you can achieve immense levels of success just like Arnold did. I asked everyone in the audience to write down on a notecard a description of who they were in 10 years. I then asked them all to write down 3 things that they would start doing today to take action on that dream. At the bottom of the notecard, I instructed the audience to write down the words, "I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP." I finally told then to take this notecard and place it in location that they would see every single day and to repeat those words every single day.
A little boy in the crowd (whom I had met the night before) came up to me after the event and said "Wow, great presentation!" Impressed by this 10 year olds ability to come up to someone he did not know and compliment his speech, I thanked him for the kind words. I remember thinking that this kid really had an adult presence to him and that his mom should be very proud of him.

His mother posted a picture of what she found in his room later that day.
You never know the impact you will have on another persons life. Make every day an inspirational day.
