What is DOMS?

So you just finished your first week of P90x/Insanity Hybrid workout and your muscles hurt like HELL!!!  What the heck causes this pain??

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness or DOMS  is a state of muscular pain and discomfort that begins several hours after a period of intense exercise.  This will usually persist for 1 to 2 days.  DOMS is thought to be due to microtrauma to the muscle fiber. 

DOMS may be what your pain is.  If it is severe, please check with your doctor.  If not, take it easy and don't over do it.  Listen to your body.  If you need to take a day or two off, then do it.  This usually means your muscles are repairing and growing....so BEACH WATCH OUT!!
